Bill,

Hydroponic?

NEWS FLASH!!!!!

[Antwerp, NY. . . July 12, 1997: NWDesigns News Service]
In a rare interview, rebreather designer Bill Elliott discloses he has found a way to use ancient hippie hydroponic growth methods to effect CO2 scrubbing. His method is secret, and in testing in the Land of OZ, but he has disclosed that the method uses cannabis plants in the breathing loop! They are able to grow from "Lung Juice (tm)" that every rebreather diver usually has to swallow. "No more!" he says. His cannabis not only uses the "Lung Juice (tm)" for hydroponic growth, but it also counteracts WAH-WAH's by sedating the user with a special gas mix produced by pure O2 across its leaves.

"I was concerned about the surface area of the plants," Bill states, "but the CO2 efficiency of chlorophyll appears to be much greater than that of Sofnolime and liquid scrubbers, especially when the observations are made after prolonged use of my new apparatus." He further states, "What makes this technology so revolutionary is the use of a butt mounted light hooked directly with fiber optics to the cannister to provide all the photons needed to help the cannabis perform the CO2 scrubbing. Not only that, but the recommended method of dealing with the plants, once they have served their purpose, is to simply burn them like incense! It's even better on the environment than dumping chalk overboard, and everybody gets to enjoy it!!"

He has decided to name the new rebreather the "B.E.A.S.T. Machine" as in Bill Elliott's Amazing Slackjawed Test machine

He quotes from The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language:

beast (bêst) noun
1.    a. An animal other than a human being, especially a large four-footed mammal. b. New England & Southern U.S.. A large domestic animal, especially a horse or bull.
2.    Animal nature as opposed to intellect or spirit: "So far the beast in us has insisted upon having its full say" (William Dean Howells).
3.    A brutal, contemptible person.

He quotes number two as being the main inspiration of this new rebreather design, and number three as his justification for entry into the commercial rebreather industry.
He gives the specification of the rebreather as being capable of diving to depths of 2000 feet, or 30000 feet back in a cave. "Once you try it, you are *absolutely* convinced you can beat my specs for this amazing new technology."

Good luck Bill! To show good will, I have placed a web page just for you on our site!

Everybody! Make sure you check it out! There is even an unauthorized photo! Actually the whole thing is unauthorized, so we'll see if I have a job on Monday.
